Viewpoint For Projects™ helps Ministry of Justice Estate Directorate to standardise document control and reduce risk.

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) Estate Directorate brings together the estate of the Probation Service, HM Prison Service, and HM Courts Service to enable effective service delivery in an integrated environment. The collaborative approach provided by organising the service in this way ensures a coherent strategy for offender management.

The MoJ Estate Directorate ensures the sentences of the courts are properly carried out and works with offenders to tackle the causes of their offending behaviour. The organisation is responsible for courts and prisons across England and Wales and has been working with Viewpoint For Projects™ since 2006 on many new development and refurbishment projects.

MoJ decided to use Viewpoint For Projects as collaboration software for two main reasons: first, to create a web-hosted archive for all English and Welsh prison documentation and information, and to ensure an easy-to-access standards library; and second, to create a collaborative web-hosted environment enabling project delivery teams and Strategic Alliance Partners to access and manage project data.

The solution’s live extranet has a “standards” area that is used on the project to manage any documentation held across the whole of the prison estate (e.g., typical cell layouts, standard kitchens, etc.) and allow access to everything from refurbishment to incident control.

Viewpoint For Projects facilitates the smooth operation of a high pressure environment. By providing a secure central resource for all information and documentation, the MoJ Asset Management Unit can ensure the right people can access the right information at the right time, significantly reducing risk.
