For most service contractors, there are two types of work that fuels their success. A Silicon Valley company has purchased Portland-based Viewpoint Construction Software for $1.2 billion in cash.

Portland, Ore.-based Viewpoint Construction Software has agreed to be acquired by Silicon Valley-based giant Trimble for $1.2 billion in an all-cash deal. The Oregonian called it the “biggest deal ever for a Portland tech company.”

Trimble has made yet another acquisition. And this time it’s huge - construction management software developer Viewpoint in an all-cash transaction valued at $1.2 billion.

Now that Silicon Valley tech company Trimble Inc. has agreed to acquire Portland-based Viewpoint Construction Software from Bain Capital for $1.2 billion (all cash), the business blend begins.

In only the latest consolidation move in the competitive construction-technology sector, Trimble announced April 23 that it is acquiring Viewpoint Construction Software for $1.2 billion from Bain Capital.

Tech company Trimble recently acquired Viewpoint Construction Software in a bid to offer “end-to-end” construction solutions to its customers.

Viewpoint announced that the Technology Association of Oregon (TAO) awarded Viewpoint this year's Enterprise Technology Company of the Year on Thursday, May 10th at the 34th Oregon Technology Awards dinner.
