Conoco Phillips

ConocoPhillips is the world’s largest independent E&P company based on production and proved reserves and operates to explore for, produce, transport, and market crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, liquefied natural gas and bitumen on a worldwide basis.

The company led a project to provide a safe, technically sound, and commercially acceptable solution for abatement of VOC vapor during tanker loading at the Teesside Oil Terminal where crude oil reception, processing, storage and trans-shipment is carried out.

ConocoPhillips adopted a FEL Stage Gate process with Viewpoint For Project Collaboration deployed through all phases of the project. Viewpoint For Project Collaboration incorporated, but was not limited to the activities associated with the procurement of the FEED contractor, the actual FEED work execution, and subsequent EPC Contract procurement, and throughout the EPC phase of the project as well.

From start to finish, 89 organizations collaborated through 408 users across 6 countries. During this time, 17,210 items were uploaded and then viewed 63,578 times. This gives an upload to download ratio of 1:4, i.e., for every item uploaded it was viewed 4 times. This is a strong indicator of enhanced efficiency and savings accrued without the need to disseminate project evaluation and execution information across the stakeholder base.

To assist in the simplification of project data retrieval, the company deployed extensive use of keywords ensuring that users could sort, retrieve, and organize data in an effective and efficient manner.
